Runners have long had a 5k before the annual Colorado Springs St. Patrick’s Day parade. This year cyclists get to join in with a 50k plus a wee bit more (31.7 miles) bike ride. After the ride, riders can ride their bikes in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The ride route takes you through some of the most scenic areas of Colorado Springs. Starting at America the Beautiful Park, riding up the Midland Trail to Garden of the Gods Park, you will ride by the infamous Balance Rock and Kissing Camels. Onward to the Mount St. Francis area before heading down to Rockrimmon. Pass by University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Campus and on to Memorial Park for a loop around Prospect Lake. Finish your ride at Colorado College and wait for the rest of the riders to assemble before riding through the St. Patrick’s Day Parade where you will be cheered on by 20,000 spectators!
The route map is here. For those that want something a little shorter and easier, there’s a 28 mile option that skips the climb up Centennial into Peregrine and instead goes down Vindicator. Registration is $25 plus fees and ends at midnight on March 15th.
